Newcastle has rebuilt itself around health, education and the harbour, and it has one of the larger populations of older residents in regional New South Wales. The John Hunter precinct pulls people in from across the region, while Lake Macquarie to the south is effectively a second city of suburbs around the water.
A lot of our work here follows a hospital stay, then settles into ongoing support at home. Housing runs older through Mayfield, Hamilton and Islington, which means steps, narrow bathrooms and yards that need a hand, and the lake suburbs add real driving time to a roster.
We roster the inner city and the lake as separate patches, because Mayfield to Toronto is not a trip anyone should be making mid-shift. Work that starts at the John Hunter tends to settle into a local routine within a few weeks.

Maitland and Cessnock are worth a call. We would rather check the roster and tell you plainly than take a booking we cannot staff week after week.
It is some of the most useful work we do. A few weeks of support while someone gets back on their feet often prevents the readmission, and it does not have to turn into an ongoing arrangement if you do not want it to.
