Support in Sydney

NSW Sydney and Greater New South Wales

The inner city, the east and the harbour suburbs.

What this area is actually like

Inner Sydney is dense, expensive and vertical. A lot of the people we support live in apartments or narrow terraces where a stair lift is not an option and the nearest parking is two streets away, and those constraints shape a support shift far more than the suburb name does.

What that means for support here

We keep workers local to a corridor rather than a whole city, because crossing Sydney twice in a shift is how support becomes unreliable. Public transport is genuinely usable here, so travel training and getting out independently are a bigger part of the work than they are in most of the places we operate.

Travel and reach

We keep workers inside a corridor rather than sending them across the city, because a shift that depends on a cross-harbour commute is a shift that fails in the first month of bad traffic. The inner west, the east and the lower north shore are staffed as separate pockets.

Questions about this area

Which parts of Sydney do you actually cover?

The inner city, inner west, eastern suburbs and the lower north shore, with separate teams for the west and south west. Tell us your suburb and we will tell you which team you sit with.

Parking near me is impossible. How does that work?

It is a normal inner Sydney problem. Sometimes it means a permit or a spot arranged with the building, and sometimes it means rostering a worker who comes by train. We sort it before the first shift.

My building has stairs and no lift. Does that rule anything out?

No, but tell us before the first shift. Inner Sydney terraces and walk-up flats are everywhere here, and knowing there are two flights and a narrow landing changes who we roster rather than whether we can help.
