What this area is actually like
Penrith sits where the Sydney basin stops and the Blue Mountains start. Summers here run hotter than anywhere else in the city, often by several degrees, and that is not trivia when a support shift involves being outside or a house without air conditioning.
What that means for support here
Heat changes how we roster in summer, with outdoor and garden work moved to early morning. The suburbs are spread out and public transport thins quickly away from the rail line, so most support here involves a worker who drives, including for St Marys, Kingswood and the newer estates towards Jordan Springs.
