Support in Sunshine Coast

QLD Brisbane and South East Queensland

What this area is actually like

The Sunshine Coast has one of the older population profiles in Queensland, and a lot of people here made a deliberate decision to retire somewhere they could stay put. Maroochydore and Caloundra do the work of a city centre, Nambour holds the older housing stock, and the hinterland towns behind them run on narrow winding roads.

What that means for support here

Most of our work here is aged care at home: personal care in the morning, help around the house, the garden, and a lift to the shops or the bowls club. The hinterland is genuinely harder to service, so we tend to build longer shifts there rather than short daily visits.

Travel and reach

The coastal strip from Caloundra to Noosa is straightforward. The hinterland is not, so up the range we build longer shifts less often rather than short daily visits, and we are honest about which villages sit past the point where that stops working.

Questions about this area

Do you cover the hinterland towns?

Palmwoods, Woombye, Nambour and the closer hinterland, yes. Maleny, Montville and the ranges are possible but travel makes short visits impractical, so ask us before you assume either way.

We are organising support for a parent from interstate. Can we deal with you directly?

Yes, and that is common here. With your parent's consent we will keep you in the loop on rosters and changes, and we are happy to do the first conversation with everyone on the call at once.

Can support increase gradually rather than all at once?

Yes, and on the Sunshine Coast that is how most of our aged care work starts. Two hours a week for the housework, then the garden, then personal care when it is needed. Starting small is easier to accept and easier to build on.
